James Whitehead

Dentist (GDC- 64515)

James qualified from Guys Hospital in 1989 and practiced in Uckfield for 4 years before coming to practice in Crawley Down since then. He has always loved dentistry and being a dentist particularly with the lovely patients in Crawley Down. As well as dentistry he enjoys many sports having played schoolboy county hockey, and lots of golf. Skiing is a passion having started that with his grandfather at the age of three. Laterly taking up motorcycling and touring Europe which led to him meeting his wife Sam. They have five lovely daughters between them. And they now enjoy discovering walking Wainwrights in the Lake District.

Saqib Qureshi

Dentist (GDC- 82286)

Saqib qualified from St Bart’s and The Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2003. He gained extensive experience working in a number of general dental practices in the South East of England and Midlands before joining Elm House Dental Practice in 2017. Saqib has always had a commitment to post graduate study, completing a number of courses and certificates. In 2019 he completed a Masters degree (MSc) in restorative dentistry at the UCL Eastman dental institute passing with distinction. He is has also trained in placing and restoring implants and is looking forward to providing this service to patients at the practice in the near future.

Saqib has two children and enjoys family time and volunteering when not doing dentistry.

Alex Lee

Hygienist (GDC- 121843)

Alex has been with the Elm House Dental Practice for 5 years. She has experience of treating a wide range of patients including those with severe periodontal disease, oral pathological conditions, implant issues and supportive care patients. On graduation from the prestigious Eastman Dental Hospital, Alex was awarded with “Outstanding student of the year” by the teaching staff.

In her personal time, she loves to travel, scuba dive, cycle and has a keen interest in photography/wildlife.

Gemma Szpala

Hygienist (GDC- 288446)

Gemma started her career as a Dental Nurse before pursuing her career goal of becoming a Dental Hygienist. She graduated from the University of Portsmouth in 2024 and was awarded a graduation prize for her outstanding communication skills. She is passionate about helping patients achieve their oral health goals by tailoring advice and educating and motivating them. Furthermore, she adapts to patients’ needs to ensure that they feel at ease and comfortable throughout the treatment. Gemma joins the practice in 2024 as our newest hygienist.

When not in the clinic, Gemma enjoys travelling with her husband, spending time with her family and friends, and taking her dogs on country and coastal walks.

Nikki Turner

Dental Nurse (GDC- 105114)

Nikki is a long-standing member of the practice and a familiar face in the Crawley Down community. She nurses for James Whitehead and they make a formidable team! Nikki likes to ‘relax’ in her spare time by jousting. She belongs to a team called the Knights of Royal England based at Hever Castle but travels up and down the country to entertain the public.

Nikki Anderson-Smith

Receptionist

Nikki is the friendly face on reception at Elm House Dental Practice. Her warm personality will out even the most anxious patient at ease. She looks forward to welcoming patients to the practice. Nikki also lives in the village with her husband and children and is well-known to the community.
